I need some clarification on a part of the system used to edit a members account (the bit they can do themselves)

My members login using their email address.

What would happen if a member called someone1@somesite.com signs up using that email address. Then they go into their control panel>edit account and change their email address to me@mysite.com.

What email address would they use to login with?
[i see in my admin part that the email address is in twice]

The reason i ask this is because i want all my members to have a valid and current email address.

The login would update to the new e-mail address they provided. Its listed twice in the admin as by default the e-mail is used as the username.

so,
If me1@mysite.com registered, then changed my email address to me2@mysite.com
what email address would any messages sent via the control panel go to?

The updated e-mail would be in the system and be used for all contacts / control panel login as well.
