I recently licensed CGI Password Manager for use on a client's site. We expected to use to manage signups and to interface with payments to keep track of member usernames and passwords and membership expirations. I am a licensed user of v1.2 on opne of my own sites and I assured the client that Password Manager would be able to handle those requirements without trouble.

I have it installed and it's working now for controlling access to the client's new memers area (i.e. for requiring and validating a passsword) but since the marketing materials claim it can be used with either PayPal or Authorize.net payment systems, I had expected to find at least SOME sort of docs that hint at how to create signup forms that works in conjunction with one or both of those payment methods.

Instead, other than a single doc explaining how to install Password Manager, (i.e. upload, set permissions, etc.) I see nothing at all that even explains how to set one or the other of those payment methods.

Am I overlooking some key document here? Or is the user just expected to figure out how to do that by osmosis from doing a vulcan mind meld with the programmer?

Thanks!
CDG,

Hi there. Have you reviewed:

http://support.i2-services.com/pm2/

It discusses PayPal setup.

On authorize.net - Have you purchased the Authorize.net add-on?
I'm sorry! I'm not sure HOW I overlooked this Doc link. I guess I only looked for docs in the install instructions and/or as part of the ZIP archive I downloaded and not spotting them there, I gave up. I'm not sure if this online doc was mentioned someplace there and I overlooked it or whether it wasn't there at all.

I'm now trying to figure out how to merge the Control Panel form and/or the Subscribe form into copies of my web template (see http://www.savetherange.com or http://www.savetherange.com/Members_Area.htm - username: test password: secret) so that they look like they're an integrated part of our site and not an afterthought. I'm having trouble doing that. Nothing I see in the docs discusses template merges of this sort. Is there a discussion somewhere about how to do that?

As far as an add-on for Authorize.net is concerned, I see nothing on your site that even suggests that Authorize.net or LinkPoint or PayPal are "add-ons". Since their logos were prominently displayed on the product's features page and the use of both Paypal and Credit cards is included in the product demo, AND the ONLY add-ons mentioned for this product were User Tracking and Personal Pages, I naturally assumed those capabilities were part of the base product. I'm extremely disappointed to learn now that they are "not included".

I even called your office twice and left at least one voice message before I bought Password Manager. I clearly indicated I was trying to determine which product was best suited to my client's needs. But after receiving no call back, I ultimately chose Password Manager because I was pretty sure it would handle our basic needs.

Had I realized Authorize.net and/or Linkpoint were priced seperately (Note: You haven't said how much these 'add-ons' cost), I would probably have recommended your PHP membership manager instead. I seriously considered that anyway; but in the end because I knew my 84 year old client's software budget was extremely tight, I recommended Password Manager because I'd used it before and knew it was capable of doing what we wanted.

I don't know what generation you're a member of, friend. I'm an aging boomer myself. But a member of MY generation just doesn't recommend to an 84 year old -- born before the depression -- great grandpa who's having a hard time paying for his medicines and whose indoor plumbing is broken (because he hasn't gotten around to digging up his own water line yet and is too proud to ask for help) that he just "spend another 90 bucks" in order to get the latest and greatest version your software. I know you're proud of what you do. You have every right to be. You do fine work. That's why I recommended your software to begin with. But, around these parts - in one of the poorest states in America - life doesn't work that way. As it is, I'm already doing this work for nothing in an effort to help the old gent out.

I was well aware that personal pages and user tracking were add-ons. In fact, I licensed User Tracking for my own site with version 1.2. But the need for those features doesn't apply in our case.

But now I gather you're telling me features I assumed WOULD be present are also "not included". That's NOT good. I'm not some naive software shopper. I've been a software professional for 40 years. For that reason, I'm very careful when I shop for capabilities. Can you tell me if ALL these features ARE included in the base price of your PHP product or will there be unexpected 'extra costs there' too? If they ARE all included in Membership Manager, what would you charge us to upgrade to that product if we agree to ditch the Password Manager?

Thanks very much. I sincerely appreciate both your support AND your candor.

Sorry about the confusion on those payment modules being an add-on.

I just noticed and you are correct that those were not listed as an add-on on this page as they are now:

https://i2-services.securesites.com/orde...ct_id=13,2

Apologize for that.

We can send you the module at no cost since this was an error on our part.

Or if you have interest in moving to PHP Membership Manager which is a better over-all solution we can credit your purchase towards it. It does come with those payment gateways in the standard package.

I do understand your situation and lack of available funds.

Submit a support ticket @:

and we'll get you the module needed for CGI Password Manager if you would like.
