PHP Membership Manager quickly can integrate with your paypal account to accept payments before registration.

A visitor clicks on your buy now / subscription button and paypal communicates with PHP Membership Manager behind the scenes.

Instantly creates an account for the visitor and e-mails them customized e-mails of account creation and any group access assigned to that purchase.
can we have varoius levels of membership, all still purchasably via paypal.
so level 2 = £2 and access to level 2 section
level 3 = £3 and access to both level 2 & 3
This done instantly via paypal and relevant email sent to buyer?
That is correct. For any "item" purchased you may assign them to any sub-group you wish. And if sub-group e-mail is enabled its sent out as well.
I want my members to be able to register for free and have access to say "area 1". Then if they want to access "area 2", they will have to pay a fee (monthly, quarterly or annually). They can either do that at sign-up or upgrade their membership later.

Basically is it possible to have different tiers in memberships one of them being free?

From the reply above, it seems that the PayPal payment must occur before registering with "PHP Membership Manager" which is not what I want.

Please clarify.

Thank you.

You may use the registration function to allow a subscriber to join to what would be your "free" registration.

If they then wanted to pay for the "pay area" they would click your paypal button to buy. Their account if it matches their paypal e-mail will then be modified to include that pay sub-group.

If they were different e-mails a new account would be created giving them a new account, which would contain of course the basic registration + sub-group pay access.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply but this seems a bit complicated from a user standpoint. This is not the solution I am looking for.
Not sure where it gets complicated. They register, for free. No charge. They have an account.

If they pay they get access to the sub-group which would allow them into a pay area...?
In your first reply - if I'm not mistaken - there is a change of account when you pay and have a different email than your Paypal account.
That would be correct, if it happened to be a different e-mail address used.

They simply would have new account details sent to them. In the e-mail they can auto login from it.

Understand what you're concerned with but i do not imagine it would be a real problem, personally.
I use this system now.
All are free, but the ones who want to upgrade click the "upgrade button" and are taken to paypal, where they enter their email address.
If the email address is the one they originally used, that account is updated.
If the email address is NOT the one they originally used, a new account with free+pay access is auto created and from then on, they log in with that email address and supplied password.

I have been running it for about 4 months now, i have had only a few ppl who want to buy membership (which they have done using a different email address), and still keep their previous email address, i have simply upgraded, via the control panel, their account and deleted the account they used to buy with on paypal.

For ppl who buy but dont have a paypal account (quite a few), they just enter their card details and their registered email address and they are done.

Hope this helps.
