If you were charging for the accounts it would be an easier situation to control as payment would be made & the account would be extended.
If there is no payment to be made the best way is to just have them re-register after the account has expired.
Not sure if a link within the expired e-mail w/ a link to the register page that would pre-fill in the registration fields w/ their previous info would be beneficial?

It would to me, this would save them going through the verification process again.
Or maybe some sort of auto update link, that they just clcik on to extend for a year. this would only apply to my free members, or maybe the link could update any account to free (even downgrade and account to free)

I'll see what we can do. Sounds like more of a personal need then a feature many could use. Normally an
account who can just register and have free access there is no reason to have it expire in the first place.
Maybe possibly a renew field next to the expiration date within an account could have "x" number of days
set in it and if set renew them and not expire them.
We had a program do things this way back around 1998 / 99

The reason for wanting an expire, is my ols system , i had about 9000 members, and about 1500 were invalid emjial addresses, this was a real pian when it came to conatcing them all, so mnay bounced emjails to sift through
i would like all my members, both free and pay to have to confirm that they are still around after a year.
is theer a way that they could clcik on a link, that wouldadd 365 days to thier account and reset their membership to free?
I see where you're coming from now. Unfortunately default off the shelf there is not a link available to auto renew an account.
This could be custom programmed in but its not in the package.

What could be done is make an additional PHP program/file that works separately.
So it would not be built into the current program files. Would be a separate add-on which
could be linked to within the e-mail.
