Yes, I have read those they don't tell you too much.
I have been looking through the threads and found my first question. Like some other users I am having trouble with some custom variables not working, %cp_url% and %signature% etc. I am running 1.7.5. Your solution was to get ver 2.0. Is this an upgrade or a new purchase?

There are some areas where the %variable% reference is not taking. You can simply hard code in the signature or the URL to the control panel in those e-mail templates.

Version 2.0 is an upgrade versus update. Requires a new DB install and if you have existing data which needs to be moved requires the PHP MyAdmin tool which is normally available within your hosting control panel.
